East Takes Down Tolland In Slugfest

TOLLAND – East Catholic’s Matt Smith had two hits including a three-run home run in the fourth inning to help lead East Catholic to a 20-10 victory over previously unbeaten Tolland Friday in Tolland.

The Eagles (7-2) jumped out to an early 3-2 lead but pulled away for good with an 8-run outburst in the fourth inning. Smith got things going with is three-run homer and the Eagles continued to tack on runs and pile up hits. Every East Catholic starter finished with at least one hit and eight had at least one RBI. Smith finished with two hits overall while Connor Williams also had two hits including a two-run homer and three RBI. Danny Glendon chipped in with a solo home0run and two RBI for the Eagles.

Dan Steiner had two hits and two RBI  and Jack Cerra added a three-run homer for Tolland (7-1).
