Boys Basketball State Tournament Seedings and Results; East Catholic Top Area Seed

The boys basketball CIAC Tournament brackets were released midway through last week for each class. The first round of the LL and M Tournaments were held Monday night, while the L and S Tournaments begin Tuesday.

Class LL

East Catholic, which went 19-1 during the regular season, earned the third seed in the tournament. The Eagles, fresh off their win in the CCC Tournament, blew out No. 30 Enfield 96-42 in the first round. East Catholic will host No. 19 Hamden on Wednesday in the second round. HHS defeated McMahon in its opening game. Enfield ended the season with a record of 9-12. East Catholic won the Class L Tournament last season.

South Windsor and Manchester both unfortunately lost in the first round. South Windsor, which earned the No. 12 seed by virtue of a 14-6 regular season record, was upset by No. 21 Hall 52-48. The Bobcats end the season 14-8. Manchester, which was seeded 24th, lost 49-45 at No. 9 Simsbury. The Indians end the season 11-12.

Class M 

Suffield was the local team with the highest tournament seed at No. 7, but the Wildcats were upset by No. 26 St. Joseph Monday  58-41. SHS end the season 15-6.

Tolland earned the No.  10 seed  after going 14-6 during the regular season. The Eagles lived up to their seeding in the first round, defeating No. 23 Granby 56-42. They will host St. Joseph Wednesday. Tolland lost in the first round last season.

Class S

Somers is the only local team that qualified for the tournament. The Spartans (9-11) earned the No. 27 seed and will travel to No. 6 Trinity Catholic Tuesday. Somers advanced to the second round last season before losing to Immaculate.
