Glastonbury Boys Wins CCC Indoor Track Championships; Multiple Teams Finish in Top Five

The local indoor track programs and their athletes were the cream of the crop at this past Saturday’s CCC Indoor Track Championships in New Haven. The Glastonbury and Manchester boys squads finished first and second overall with scores of 74.50 and 59 points. In the girls division, Glastonbury, Tolland and Manchester finished second, third and fourth with scores of 101.50, 64 and 45. Overall, there were three individual male winners and four female from local programs, as well as four relay squads.


Tolland senior Josh Bedard, Glastonbury senior Chris Reeves, and Manchester senior Jordan Ware each won events. Bedard captured the 1000 meters in 2:35.14, Reeves triumphed in the 1600 in 4.35.26, and Ware won the high jump with a leap of six feet. East Catholic’s 1600 sprint relay team of Pat Regan (senior), Kevin Lanciano (senior), Peter Crowley (senior), and Evan Kennedy (junior) crossed the line first in 3:44.01.

Reeves performed outstanding in the 1000 and 32000 as well, placing third in both with times of  2:41.10 and 10:05.07. Manchester junior Joe Pearl placed runner-up in the 1000 and 16000 with marks of 2:38.93 and 9:49.83. Senior teammate Israel Adesina was a standout in the jumping events. He placed runner up in the long jump with a leap of 20 inches and 5 centimeters, and finished fourth in the 100 hurdles in 8:06.5.


The Tolland senior trio of Kat DeLoreto, Hayley Collins and AmyErin Zadroga each won events. DeLoreto captured the 1000 in 3:08.40, Collins triumphed in the 3200 with a mark of 11:10.98, and Zadroga leaped 11-6 in the pole vault to win. Glastonbury junior Erin McGill won the 1600 with a time of 5:16.66. Glastonbury’s 4×400 relay (senior Danielle Brinckman, junior Olivia Allen, senior Morocca Wiley, McGill) and 4×800 relay (sophomore Angela Braga, sophomore Julia Wilcox, McGill, Allen) teams won their races in 4:03.23 and 10:01.84. Finally, Tolland captured the 1,600 sprint medley relay race in 4:21.37 behind the quartet of junior Marissa Airoldi, senior Jess Barry, junior Maddie Clark and DeLoreto.

Collins also performed well in the 1600, finishing third in 5:21.31. Glastonbury junior Kaylen Hughes finished right behind DeLoreto in the 100 with a time of 3:10.61, and was fifth in the 3200 in 11:58.73. Manchester senior Elizabeth Lodge was runner-up in both the 55 hurdles and long jump with a time of 8.68 and jump of J5-4.
