South Windsor, Manchester earn Thanksgiving victories

Edison Galan threw three touchdown passes and ran for another  as the Manchester Indians defeated East Hartford 40-3 in the annual Thanksgiving football showdown Wednesday night in East Hartford.

Manchester (5-5) led just 14-3 at halftime but outscored the Hornets 20-0 in the third to put the game out of reach, with Galan throwing for 80 and 71-yard TDs. Jakai Westbury also ran for two TD’s for Manchester, while Yamil Valdez caught a TD and intercepted a pass. Elsewhere on defense, Jaylen Lewis intercepted two passes in the first. Chris Breault’s 28-yard field goal in the second quarter provided  the only scoring for East Hartford (5-5)

South Windsor defeats rival Rockville

The South Windsor Bobcats finished off the 2016 campaign with a convincing 56-29 victory over Rockville in the annual Thanksgiving football showdown Wednesday night. The Bobcats offense gained 555 yards in a thorough dismantling of the Rams defense. They were led by quarterback Connor Kapisak, who completed 17 of 23 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns. He threw two TDs to Michael Foley, while wingback Connor Dunn caught the game opening touchdown and ran for a score. Rockville’s Mark Henry returned a kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown and ran for a TD. South Windsor finishes the season at 6-4 while Rockville was 3-7.
