Three Local Teams Win State Cross Country Titles

In recent seasons, the Tolland High girls cross country team has made a habit of winning the Class M championships, and they maintained their title grip on Saturday at Manchester’s Wickham Park. This year, they were joined by two other squads. The Tolland boys stepped up and matched their classmates by also winning M, while the RHAM girls captured the Class MM title.

Class M Girls

Tolland won its sixth consecutive championship by relying on both its stars and depth, finishing with 26 points. Seniors Kat DeLoreto and Hayley Collins finished first and second with times of 18:48 and 18:52, while fellow senior Michaela Caron was fourth in 18:58. Senior Sydney Perryman (20:42) and sophomore Kaitlyn Bedard (21:20) finished in the top 15 at eighth and 14th.

Ellington finished second with 98 points. Freshman Kathyrn Bananno and senior Jenni Giacolone were fifth and sixth in 20:33 and 20:36.
