College Notebook: Trio of Men’s Lacrosse Players Have Strong Weeks

A trio of mens lacrosse players had standout recent performances for their teams as the season heats up.

Former Somers High star Eddie Hall has had a strong week for Roger Williams, scoring four points in two games. The sophomore midfielder scored twice unassisted in a 13-9  home win against New England last Saturday, and had two assists in another home game against UNE on Wednesday, this time a loss. Hill is fourth on the 7-4 Hawks in points with 17.

Vermont senior attacker James Barlow had a monster game for the Catamounts on March 29th  in a 15-9 home win against Dartmouth, scoring four goals and adding three assists. The tally left him just six shy of 100 career points. The Glastonbury native is second in goals and third in points for 5-6 Vermont with 23 and 32.

Western Connecticut goalie Patrick Tynan had solid games in a win last Saturday against Salem State and a loss on Wednesday against Farmingdale State, making a combined 37 saves. The former Suffield High netminder has started seven of the teams eight games and is averaging nearly 16 saves per game.


Bridgeport University junior hurler Kaitlyn Lajoie pitched outstanding in wins against American International and St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday and Friday. The Vernon native threw a complete game against AIC in a 3-2 win, limiting the Yellow Jackets to just six hits while striking out eight. Lajoie threw a second complete game two days later, limiting the Lady Spartans to five hits and striking out eight in a 5-3 win. While Lajoie is just 4-7 on the season, she has a sparking 2.75 ERA.

Former Rocky Hill High standout Erika Leonard is having a solid series against UMass-Lowell that began Friday, as she’s gone 4-6 with two runs scored and RBI and three stolen bases in two wins so far. The sophomore outfielder is hitting .294 on the season with 21 runs scored and 14 SBs.


Southern New Hampshire freshman catcher Joshua Zbierski had a great day at the plate last Sunday in a win at AIC, hitting three doubles in four at bats and scoring a run. The East Catholic alum is hitting .500 with six RBI in nine games played.

Women’s Lacrosse

Quinnipiac senior attacker Kathleen DeVito had strong games last Saturday against Canisius and on Wednesday at Sienna, scoring twice in both and adding two assists in the first game. On the season, the former Glastonbury High star leads the team with 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) in twelve games.
