Weekly College Notebook: Bolden and Additional Women Players Take Charge

Albertus Magnus star Olivia Bolden did everything she could to get the Falcons wins against Suffolk and Coast Guard this past week, even if they did not come to pass. The sophomore forward and South Windsor native averaged 29 points and grabbed 33 rebounds in the two games on Saturday and Monday, shooting better than 60 percent from the field between the two.

Western New England junior forward Emily Anderson averaged 15 points in wins against Eastern Nazarene and Salve Regina on Saturday and Tuesday.

University of Hartford sophomore Janelle Harrison had the first double-double of her career last Sunday in an overtime win against Vermont. The former Cromwell High star scored 14 points and snatched 16 boards in the two-point win, adding two blocks.

American International senior guard and South Windsor alum Brianna Bishop scored 16 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists in last Saturday’s takedown of Pace.

Mens Basketball

Eastern Connecticut junior forward Hugh Lindo had arguably the best game of his career last Saturday in a win against UMass-Dartmouth. The Enfield High alum scored a career-high 30 points, 20 in the second half, and grabbed 16 rebounds. Lindo shot 12-16 from the floor and added four steals.

Teammate Trachone Preston, who also played at Enfield, scored 15 points against UMass-Dartmouth and 14 in the following game against Keene State.

Southern New Hampshire senior forward and former Manchester standout BJ Cardarelli scored 17 points and added three assists in a win at Merrimack last Saturday, and followed it up with 10 points in a triumph against Franklin Pierce four days later.


Springfield College senior and former Glastonbury star Tyler Keane won twice in the 133-pound division last weekend in meets against Williams and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
