Girls Basketball: Goslin Breaks 1000-Point Mark

South Windsor senior Alex Goslin achieved a career milestone on Saturday during a girls basketball victory over East Hartford. The Bobcats point guard scored 22 points and became the third player in program history to score more than 1,000 points. Against RHAM on Monday, Goslin had anothergreat game, scoring 27 for the Bobcats in a victory.


Goslin’s teammate Molly Murphy also continued her outstanding campaign for the Bobcats, scoring  29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against RHAM and East Hartford and adding 25 against Hartford Public. Ellington juniors Caitlyn Gresh and Shannon Maquire both had double-double’s in Thursday’s win against Classical. Gresh scored 17 points and dished out 10 assists, while Maquire scored 12 and grabbed 10 rebounds. RHAM junior Sydney Masna earned a double-double in a win against Fermi the same night, dominating inside to a tune of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Finally, Cromwell senior Arya Lessard, who also recently broke the 1,000 point mark, scored 23 in Saturday’s triumph against North Branford.


East Catholic freshman Joey Reilly and junior Mike McGuirl were both outstanding for the Eagles in three wins. Reilly averaged 21 points and McGuirl 20 in wins against Rockville, Manchester and Hartford Public. In addition McGuirl, who just returned from injury, had a quadruple-double against Manchester with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals, and added another 11 rebounds and eight assists against Hartford Public.

Four stars emerged out of the overtime four-overtime thriller between Enfield and Windsor Locks on Tuesday. Anthony Jiminez, a junior, scored the game-winning basket for Enfield in the final second of its 71-69 triumph, finishing with 18 points. The Windsor Locks trio of Matt Shaw, Chavon George and Ian Wade were all great in the tough loss. Senior Shaw scored 24 points and sophomore George 23, while Warde, a junior, finished with 10 and 18 rebounds.

Tolland’s Andrew Jaworski, a junior, had a double-double in Monday’s win against Bristol Eastern with 25 points and 13 rebounds, and scored 19 later in the week in a win against Rockville. Fermi senior Josh Pasini averaged 26 points in two losses, adding eight assists on Thursday against RHAM.


The E.O. Smith/Tolland trio of Evan Valenti, Nick Daigle and Owen Stacey each had outstanding nights in Wednesday’s win against Newtown. Valenti, a junior, and Daigle, a senior, each scored twice, while Stacey, a freshman, assisted on four goals in the triumph.
