Tolland High Student Athlete of the Month: Jordyn Dube

Jordyn has played all three years and grown into a force on the court for her team.  Her pre-game routine has to be the right balance to perform her best on the court. Like most athletes the pre-game soundtrack is essential to get amped up for a game, but Dube also takes time to calm herself down before a big match.

“I also clear my head and relax, because if I don’t my sets and playing in general is terrible,” said Dube.

Her team got off to a rocky start this past season, but won seven of their last nine game and finished the season with a 10-10 record.  Dube will be returning next year with a bunch of key players but the two seniors that are graduating this year set the foundation for a potentially very successful season next year.

“It was a great season and I will miss our two seniors dearly,” said Dube.

With the 2015 season already in the books, Dube will look to be one of the leaders next year as her powerful serve will be a key weapon for the team.  She finished second in aces this season in all of Class M, and will look to better her total next year to earn the top spot.

Her favorite athlete is Ronda Rousey and her biggest sports influence is her former gymnastics Miss Chrissy.  Dube trained with her until her freshman year and the lessons she learned during that time have proven valuable.

“She is the one who inspired me to push myself to be the best at anything I try, and to never give up,” said Dube.

Dube still has one more season to make an impact on the volleyball court and will look to continue her success in the classroom as well.
