Glastonbury Student Athlete of the Month: Sean Lindsey

Name: Sean Lindsey

Sports played:  I played four years on the varsity soccer team as a goaltender as well as pole-vaulted freshman year for outdoor track & field. In the winter and spring seasons, I played for the Oakwood Soccer Club on a pre-academy team during sophomore and junior year.

Academic accomplishments: My proudest academic accomplishments include maintaining a 4.4/4.0 GPA, achieving the rank of AP scholar, and being inducted into the National Honor Society. I also find pride in challenging myself to take the toughest classes the school offers in order to better prepare me for my academic goals in college.

Athletic accomplishments: Two Class LL State Champion titles and three Conference Division titles.

How I prepare for a game:  I need to tune out all of the outside noise. Nothing else matters except for the game. I will usually listen to music to keep focused but also relaxed at the same time. This way, I can go out mentally prepared and ready to face my next opponent.

Most exciting moment of this past season: Our win against our rival Farmington during the regular season. Both teams had a good amount of opportunities throughout the game and our team performed well by taking advantage of these opportunities to put the game away.

Most memorable moment as a high school athlete: My most memorable moment during my high school career was during the 2013 state tournament semifinals against Greenwich. After we scored to tie the game in the last five minutes, we finished the game in overtime with us moving on to the finals.

Favorite pro or college athlete: Goalkeeper Iker Casillas. As a keeper myself, he inspired me to always strive towards greatness. Watching him play, I realized that there was always a next level to reach and I needed to seize every opportunity to make myself better.

College plans: I intend to major in engineering and physics in college to pursue careers in these fields. Athletically, I plan to continue to play soccer either at a varsity or club level as well as pursue other recreational activities such as skiing and ultimate frisbee.
