It has been a busy week for some local student athletes who have signed NCAA letters of intent.

In Tolland, senior Nick Paasch  has signed a letter of intent to attend and play baseball at Quinnipiac, while softball standout Ashley Landolina committed to St. Thomas Aquinas in New York.

Paasch, who has a fastball that can top 87 miles per hour, finished the high school season with a 2-2 record and a 2.42 ERA in 23.1 innings pitched. He pitched another 65 2/3 innings in the summer and fall American Legion seasons, finishing with an ERA under 1.00 and 98 strikeouts.

Landolina is a talented shortstop who batted more than .400 as a junior and helped the Eagles to a  20-5 record and a berth in the Class M state tournament semifinals.

In South Windsor field hockey standout Bridget Kelly has signed a letter of intent to attend Sacred Heart University. Kelly was a dominant force in the CCC the past few years and has 12 goals and 10 assists this season.

In Ellington, senior  swimmer Jess Miller has also committed to Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Miller is a two-time team MVP and a State Open qualifier. She is considered one of the top butterfly swimmers in the area. Miller said her choice of Marist was an easy one after visiting the school in April.

“I just fell in love with everything about the school,’’ Miller said. “They have a strong swim program and it’s a beautiful place.’’
