Weekly College Notebook: Eastern Star Earns Conference Honors

Eastern Connecticut boys soccer player Xavier Doran was named the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 12-18. Doran, a sophomore who starred at RHAM High, recorded his second hat trick of the season in a 4-0 win at Southern Maine on the 17th. Four days earlier, Doran earned both a goal and assist in a 4-0 win at Fitchburg State. He is ranked second in the Little East in points with 25 and is tied for third in goals at 9. Eastern is currently first in the conference and is ranked sixth in New England.

Katherine Mahoney Leads Roger Williams to Big Win Against Endicott

Mahoney, who played for Suffield High, gave RWU field hockey its first ever win against rival Endicott on Saturday the 17th when she scored the game’s lone goal. Mahoney scored in the 39th minute to help the Hawks improve to 7-9. The junior leads the team in goals with 11.

Swimmer Rachel Gagnon Performs well at Catholic College Invitational

Gagnon helped Assumption finish fourth out of six teams at the Invitational, which was held this past Friday and Saturday at Boston College. The junior, who swam for Tolland High, swam the breastroke for the Greyhounds 400-yard and 200-yard IM teams, which finished second and third, respectively. Gagnon also finished eighth in the 100-yard breastroke.
