Brandeis men’s soccer star Jake Picard has been the main catalyst in the Judges 6-1 start. The senior captain, who played at Suffield High, scored the game-winning goal in three consecutive games against Cark, Babson and WPI. Picard started the streak on September 11th at Clark when he scored in the 5oth minute to give his team a 1-0 win. Against Babson the next day, Picard scored in the second overtime off a pass from Josh Ocel to give Brandeis a 1-0 lead. Picard wasn’t done. Four days later against WPI, he scored again in the second overtime, this time 1:20 in. Following his goals against Clark and Babson, Picard was named the University Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week.    

Alex Gaes

The senior and Somers native is having a solid season for Nichols College men’s soccer in goal. Gaes is allowing just 1.5 goals per game while averaging 8 saves. He has helped lead Nichols to a 3-3 record, and recorded shutouts against Anna Maria and Mass Maritime.

Jess Fontaine

The junior and Quinnipiac women’s soccer forward, who is from Enfield and attended Northwest Catholic, leads the 3-0 Bobcats in points with 5. Fontaine has 2 goals and 1 assist on the season. Both her goals came against Maine in a 3-1 win on September 13th.

Katherine Mahoney

The junior forward has been the top offensive player for Roger Williams field hockey this season. Mahoney, a Suffield native, has started every game and leads the Hawks with 4 goals. The team is 2-4 so far.
