RHAM SAM: Colin Farrar

Sports played:

I play soccer in the fall, I did diving in the winter of my sophomore year, and I play tennis in the spring. In the summer when I am not in school, I play tennis and dive in Glastonbury. I am a member of Pinebrook Pool Club.

Academic accomplishments:

I have made at least Honors every quarter throughout High School. This year, I have achieved High Honors in both semesters. I am 12th of my class of 274. I was inducted into National Honors Society and will be next year’s Secretary for the organization. Furthermore, I achieved a perfect 800 on the math subject on the SAT.

Athletic accomplishments:

In soccer, my team and I were Class L State quarterfinalists, runner up in the CCC tournament, and won the CCC East Division Champions two years in a row. My sophomore year, I placed 3rd in the ECC Conference Meet and 12th at Class LL States. In tennis, were 2nd in the CCC East Division my freshman year,, 1st my sophomore year, and 2nd this year. For Pinebrook, our club won the Summer League Tennis Championship and my partner and I won the Flight A (1 doubles teams) Championship this past year.

How I prepare for a game:

I only focus on the game/match I am about to play. I forget about previous games/matches, school, and family and friends, and play every game/match on a clean slate.

Most exciting moment of this past season:

My most exciting moment would have to be my first round match of Class L States for tennis. In the first set, my partner and I were neck and neck with the doubles team from Fitch that we were playing. We lost the first set 5-7 in a tie breaker, but this did not affect our game. We went on to win the second set 6-3. The third set was a nail-biter, but we came out on top to win 10-6 in a ten-point tie breaker (the third set was only a ten-point tie breaker for time management reasons). We lost to the #1 seed in the second round 2-6, 0-6 (but we won the first game and it through everyone for a loop).

Most memorable moment as a high school athlete:

My most memorable moment as a high school athlete would be my achievements in the ECC Conference Meet in diving. It was my first year as a high school diver, but I managed to place 3rd out of 16 divers with a total score of 333.

Favorite pro or college athlete:

I do not usually watch sports so I do not have a favorite athlete.

College plans:

I plan on joining the Ping Pong Club at the college I attend. If they don’t have one, I intend to form one. Other intramural or clubs sports I would consider would be soccer, tennis, and ultimate Frisbee.
