How I prepare for a race: Before a race or an erg piece I like to be away from any distractions. I’ll just plug in to my iPod and think about what we have to do to win.

Most exciting moment of this past season: Winning the State title for the first time in GHS history. This year we had a very talented group of guys, and you could tell that everyone in the boat was driven to win. Mike Plummer, Greg Kernisan, Connor Spencer, Ethan Cummiskey, Sean Martin, Mike Nicholson, Scott Moore, our coxswain Ryan Paulekas, and Coach Steve Somosky all deserve enormous credit for our successful season.

Most memorable moment as a high school athlete: Getting the chance to row at Head of the Charles. Head of the Charles is the largest regatta in the world, so getting to compete at this level was truly humbling. Again, I give enormous credit to the guys in the boat, particularly our stroke Chris Augustinos. It was a great race and I hope I’ll get the chance to row there in college.

Favorite pro or college athlete: Hamish Bond (Olympic rower)

College plans: This fall I’ll be attending the University of Pennsylvania, where I plan to study Political Science and Economics.
