Top Performers of the Week

Below are the top performers for the week of May 4-May 9.


Brian Hollister, Somers: The senior had an outstanding week both at the plate and on the mound. Hollister smacked a grand slam and drove in 9 runs while scoring 6 in Friday’s blowout win against Bolton. Two days earlier, Hollister earned the win against Granby Memorial while striking out 8.

Chris Mastromarino, Glastonbury: The junior was the difference maker late in the Tomahawks 6-4 comeback win against Tolland. Mastromarino drove in the go-ahead double before earning the win in relief.

Dan Ambier, Cromwell: The junior tossed a complete game shutout against East Hampton while striking out 8.

Brian Cunningham, Fermi: The junior pitched well and drove in 2 runs in an impressive 14-1 win at Hartford Public.

Tommy Sand, South Windsor: The junior’s 4 hits and 2 RBI keyed the Bobcats offensive attack in a 12-0 win against Fermi.


Peyton Silverman and Maddy Donahue, South Windsor: The junior dominated both on the mound and at the plate in a 10-0 drubbing of Manchester. Silverman recorded 12 strikeouts while going 2-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Donahue wasn’t too shabby against Manchester either, going 3-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

Jennifer Slane, Tolland: Slane displayed a flair for the dramatic by hitting walk-0ff home runs to defeat South Windsor and E.O. Smith.

Laura Somerville, Suffield: The senior was again outstanding in a win against Stafford, striking out 16.

Jess Greenspan, Rocky Hill: The junior threw a shutout against Wethersfield, striking out 13.


Jared Anderson, Rocky Hill: The senior star was tremendous in the Terriers three games, scoring a combined 25 goals in three wins.

Shaun Monaghan, Rockville: The senior scored 7 goals in a win at Windsor and 4 in a loss to RHAM.

Ray McCarthy, Somers: The senior captain scored a combined 11 goals in wins at Morgan and Avon.

Tyler Gordon, Avon: The senior midfielder led AHS to an impressive win against rival Suffield with 5 goals.

Jamil Hamideh, Suffield: The junior scored three goals against both Valley Regional and Granby Memorial.


Merrill Martin and Delaney Tierney, Suffield: The junior teammates led the way for SHS against Valley Regional and Granby Memorial. Martin scored 7 goals and Tierney 5 in a 14-8 victory at Valley, while Martin added four scores two days later in a loss at GMHS.

Alyssa Powers, Ellington: The junior attacker continued her outstanding play by scoring a combined 11 goals in three games.

Maddie Norman, Glastonbury: The junior scored a combined 10 goals in blowout wins against Farmington, Hand and Cheshire.

Sierra Hibbs, South Windsor: The senior scored five goals in a hard-fought loss to Northwest Catholic.


Erich Roman and Shane Harasyko, Glastonbury: Harasyko, a senior, smacked 27 kills in a 3-2 win against Newington, while junior Roman had “only” 19 kills against Southington.

Zach Hirsch, Enfield: The junior’s 23 assists helped EHS to a sweep of Norwich Free Academy.

Kevin Benoit, South Windsor: The senior recorded a combined 31 digs against Rockville and Southington.

Tyler Porcello, Fermi: The senior dished out 24 assists in a sweep at Bulkeley.
