Tolland SAM: Fay

Name: Emma Fay

Sport: Tennis

Emma has been on the Honor Roll every semester, is a National Merit Finalist, and is the National Honor Society President. She has been a varsity tennis player for all three years she has played, and is a captain for the upcoming season.

How Emma prepares for a match: I like to talk with my teammates (especially my doubles partner, Heather) and our coach. We’re all close on our team, and we joke around a lot, which means that even though we’re competitive, we never lose the fun of the sport. I also have a pump-up playlist I listen to on the bus when we have away matches!

What Emma is most excited about this season: I’m really excited about the team dynamic. We have a great group of driven, competitive, and all-around incredible girls. I’m looking forward to growing as a team and seeing what’s in store for us as we start to settle in for the season.

Emma’s most memorable moment as a high school athlete: Last season, Heather and I faced a team we were very closely matched with. We went into a third set, and even that came super close. We ended up winning, so of course that felt great. Plus the girls we played were so nice! We still remember them well to this day.

What Emma hopes to accomplish this season: I think we’re all aiming to make the state tournament this season, both individually and as a team. It’s going to take a lot of hard work, but I’m confident that this will be a really fantastic senior year.

Emma’s favorite pro or college athlete: I’m obsessed with Marc-Andre Fleury, the goalie for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Emma’s college plans: Nothing concrete yet! Still waiting to hear back from a few schools, so fingers crossed.
