INDOOR TRACK STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Class S

Women

Cassidy Palmer, Stafford: The sophomore won the 55 meter dash with a time of 7:23 and finished fifth in the 300M in 43:02. She was also a member of the 4×200 meter relay team that placed fifth.

Daisia Walker, East Windsor: The senior captured the long jump with a leap of 16-11.

Jasmine Murray, Stafford: The senior placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 34-08.

Men

Tyrik Henry, Enfield: The senior won the 55 meter hurdles in with a time of 7:60 and placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 20:04.25.

Thomas Mantel, Cromwell: The senior was runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 21-01 and finished fifth in the high jump with a jump of 5-08.

Class M

Women

Jennifer Jacobs, Tolland: The senior earned a title in the long jump with a leap oof 17-03.

Caitlin Swanson, Tolland: The junior stood out among a crowd of outstanding athletes, winning both the 1600 and 3200. She won the first in 5:11.72 and the second in 11:05.8. Swanson was also a member of Tolland’s winning 4×800 team.

Katherine Deloreto, Tolland: The sophomore won the 1000 in 3:05.83 and was second to Swanson in the 1600 with a time of 5:21.95. She also ran for the 4×800 team.

Haley Hasty, Rockville: The senior finished second in both the 1000 and 3200 with times of 3:06.61 and 11:08.58.

Erin McGann, Suffield: The freshman made a memorable debut in the championships, finishing second in the shot put with a throw of 33-05.

Men

Jordan Dixon, Ellington: The senior won the 1600 with a mark of 4:32.71. He also ran for Ellington’s 4×800 team, which finished second.

David Clavet, Ellington: The sophomore was runner-up in the 3200 in 9:58.62. He also ran in the 4×800.

Andrew Oliwa, Ellington: The senior was runner-up in the 3200 in 1:25.35.

Aidan Kalisher, RHAM: The junior finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 20-00.25.

Class L

Women

Michele Otaluka, South Windsor: The senior left fellow competitors in the dust, winning the 55 meter dash with a time of 7:38 and earning third place in the 300 in 43.24.

Molly Hamel, Avon: The senior was runner-up in the 3200 in 11:31.16.

Class LL

Kaitllyn Hebert: The running star earned another championship in her final go-around, winning the 1000 in 3:01.5. Hebert also finished second in the 3200 in 11:40.16 and ran for the Tomahawks winning 4×800 team.

Kristin Hughes, Glastonbury: The junior finished third in the 3200 and fourth in the 1600 with marks of 11:48.34 and 5:21.44. She also ran in the 4×800.

Heather Day, Glastonbury: The senior was third in the pole vault with a vault of 8-06.

Sarah LeClair, Glastonbury: The junior was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet.

Men

Keyion Dixon, Glastonbury: The junior had a versatile performance, finishing third in the high jump with a leap of 5-10 and fourth in the 55 meter dash in 6.69.

Randy Neish, Glastonbury: The junior was third in the 1000 in 2:35.64.

Andrew Olson, Glastonbury: The senior finished third in the shot put with a toss of 45-09.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Nick Casiano, Rocky Hill: It was a typical week for the proficient scorer, who put up 23 and then 27 points in wins over Tolland Rockville. His effort helped the Terriers over .500 at 9-8.

Jack Hostetler, Somers: Averaged 20 in wins against Stafford and East Granby. The senior drained eight three-pointers between the two games.

Nate Laszewski, Avon: Averaged 20 points in wins against Ellington and East Granby for the Falcons, who are 13-4.

Christian Porydzy, Glastonbury: Averaged 16 in a 2-1 week against Weaver, E.O. Smith and South Windsor. The senior point guard helped the Tomahawks improve their record to 10-7

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Michaela Marcus, Avon: The senior scored a combined 39 points in wins against Ellington and Canton. In addition to her 23 points, Marcus also recorded five assists and six steals against Canton. She is averaging 11.4 points per game for the 13-4 Falcons.    

Mary Baskerville, Enfield: The freshman star helped lead her team to another outstanding week with a 20 point, 10 rebound performance in a win against Granby. Baskerville is averaging 14.4 points and 6.4 rebound per game for the 14-5 Raiders, who have won 10 in a row.      

Dominique Boyd, Windsor Locks: The senior forward dominated on the inside in a win over Ellington with a double-double (15 points, 13 rebounds).

Cameron Hendricks, Glastonbury: The junior’s 23 points helped propel the Tomahawks to an impressive road win at Weaver.

Hockey

Jake King, Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks: The senior defenseman was outstanding on offense in the team’s two games. He scored and earned an assist in a win against Branford and scored twice in a win over Fermi/Enfield/East Granby/Stafford.

Thomas Vose, Fermi/Enfield/East Granby/Stafford: The junior forward scored with 5:55 remaining in overtime to give his squad a 3-2 win over E.O. Smith-Tolland.

Carter Henderson, Glastonbury: The junior defenseman scored with 1:30 remaining in the third period to give the Tomahawks a 3-2 lead against East Catholic in a comeback win.

Connor Morton, Rockville-Bolton-Coventry-RHAM: The sophomore scored twice in a 5-2 win against Wethersfield-Rocky Hill-Middletown.

Domingo Rodriguez, Wethersfield-Rocky Hill-Middletown: The senior made 68 saves in two games
