Glastonbury, Ellington top final soccer polls

Class LL boys soccer champion Glastonbury and Class M champion Ellington have been voted No. 1 in their respective final polls by the CT High School Soccer Coaches Association. Both teams received all of the available first place votes from the coaches.

Glastonbury (15-5-2) won the Class LL title with an incredible, drama packed 2-1 overtime victory over Farmington (17-4-1) and earned the top spot in the Class LL/L final poll. Farmington finished second. Suffield, which had won three consecutive Class M titles before being moved up to the LL tournament this season was voted 7th in the Class LL poll. The Wildcats finished the season at 16-1-1.

Ellington took home its fifth state title in school history and third Class M championship since winning back-to-back championships in 2007-08. The Knights defeated longtime rival Tolland 1-0 in a thrilling game last Saturday at Middletown HS. Tolland (14-6-1) was ranked second in the Class M/S final poll, followed by Class S co-champion Somers (15-2-3). Cromwell was ranked No. 8 in the poll.
