Suffield Streak Ends on Penalty Kicks

The 52-game unbeaten streak ended for the Suffield High School boys soccer team Friday night, as the Wildcats saw their dreams of a fourth straight state championship slip by.

Danbury, seeded ninth, held the top-seeded Wildcats to a 1-1 tie through regulation play and a pair of overtimes, then captured a penalty kick shootout 3-2 to post a 2-1 victory and a berth in the Class LL semifinals against #4 Farmington.

Suffield had won the previous three Class M titles, and was moved to the LL division this year.

Nine games were played Friday involving teams from The Sports Department’s coverage area; local squads advanced in seven of those contests.
