Ellington Scholar Athlete Daigle

Name: Tim Daigle

School: Ellington High School

Sports Played: Cross Country, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track

Accomplishments (athletic and academic): Four time All-Conference, Captain Cross Country, Captain Outdoor Track, Class Scholar, National Merit Scholar, Rensselaer Medalist.

Most memorable thing about high school: Everything about doing track and cross country. Doing high school running for three years changed everything about me. It affected who I hung out with, how I felt about myself, and the way that I viewed life. I remember every single season clearly, and it’s safe to say that running changed me more than anything else in high school.

Biggest influence in life: It’s impossible for me to pick one, and if I were to list every individual it’d probably fill a page. There are many people in my life that have motivated me, supported me, or forced me to change my perspective, and I’m grateful to all of them. My biggest influence is the group of people surrounding me and cheering me on.

If I could change one thing in the world, it would be: I would make people more open-minded and willing to compromise. I think that most of the world’s problems stem from a lack of understanding and respect for each other, and that if people were more willing to work together we would all be better off.

What it means to be named Scholar Athlete of the Year: It really is an incredible honor, as cliché as that sounds. I know of a lot of people on my team and on other sports teams who work extremely hard both on and off the field, so I’m honored to be the one selected.

College plans: I’m attending Hofstra University next year and I plan to major in Computer Science.

Plans after college: I hope to get a job doing something with computers, but my specific interests are constantly changing, so I don’t have any exact plans.
