GHS Girls Lax Nearly Perfect

STRATFORD – It was an impressive – and nearly perfect run that cam up just short. The Glastonbury girls lacrosse team lost 13-9 to Darien in the Class L championship game Saturday aft afternoon at Bunnell High School in Stratford. The loss ended the top ranked Tomahawks bid for a perfect season as Glastonbury finished 19-1. Darien – which began the tournament as the No. 3 seed, finished 18-2 overall.
The Tomahawks and Blue Wave were tied 3-3 early in the first half until the Blue Wave scored four consecutive goals. Glastonbury trailed at the half 7-4.  The Tomahawks go to within 10-7 with 16 minutes remaining, but then gave up three consecutive goals. Glastonbury scored two more goals, but it was too late to mount a comeback.
Maddie Norman led the Tomahawks with three goals, and Cami Santor, Taylor Walker, and Lindsay Shettle each scored twice.
