A Suffield High Double


WINDSOR LOCKS – Suffield High School enjoyed a great day on the diamond, as both the baseball and softball teams won their respective North Central Connecticut Conference tournaments on Friday evening at Veterans Memorial Park in Windsor Locks.

The baseball team won its first-ever NCCC tournament championship by defeating Avon High 4-1 in the championship game.

Pitcher Robbie Hitt pitched three scoreless innings against the Falcons to earn the victory. He took home the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player award after hurling four innings in the semifinal game.

Suffield High broke open a 1-1 game with three runs in the decisive sixth inning.

Not to be outdone,just an hour later the Wildcats’ softball team wrapped up its NCCC tournament championship with a 17-6 victory over Ellington High.

Tournament Most Outstanding Player Katelynn Corr hit two home runs and two doubles to lead the Wildcats, who fell behind 2-0 in the first inning.
