How Haley prepares before a meet: I set goals for myself for every race and try to visualize the race. I make sure to keep a positive attitude and stay calm and relaxed.

What Haley was most excited about with regards to the winter season: I was excited to step into a leadership role as one of the most experienced athletes on the team.

Haley’s most memorable moment thus far in her high school uniform: My most memorable moment was breaking the 1,600 meter school record at the Journal Inquirer Invitational. Matt Buckler from the JI was announcing the meet, and it is always exciting to hear your name being called as you are running. I medaled in all three of my events during that meet and set a personal record in every event.

Haley’s biggest accomplishment with her winter team: The team was comprised of mainly freshmen and was overall, very inexperienced. It was great to see the new runners step up and contribute to the team. We also sent more runners to the conference and state meets than we have in the past.

Haley’s favorite college or pro athlete: My favorite pro athlete is Mary Cain. At just 17 years old, she is already beating seasoned professionals and I love the way she handles herself with such maturity and composure.
