Boys Basketball Blog: 2/4

East Windsor remains unbeaten at 13-0.  The Panthers won all three of their games last week at home versus SMSA (51-36) and on the road against Brookfield (51-45) and Coventry (53-40).  The Panthers host Avon tonight in a game with serious NCCC title implications.


Speaking of Avon, the Falcons have won seven straight to improve to 10-4 and qualify for the state tournament.  Avon beat Windsor Locks 68-33, SMSA 66-44, and Enfield 87-38 last week.  Avon started the season 3-4, but has turned things around.  Their matchup with East Windsor tonight will be one of their biggest tests this season.


Another team to reach eight wins in the past week is Rockville.  The Rams beat Ellington 79-63 and lost to Bloomfield 72-60 in road games last week to go to 8-4 on the year.  The Rams host RHAM Thursday night.


Canton is on the cusp of a state tournament berth at 7-5.  The Warriors have won four straight games with wins over Enfield and East Granby coming in the last week.  Canton had lost four in a row and was 3-5 prior to the recent win streak.  Canton looks to continue their hot streak in Suffield tonight.


Back on track are the Simsbury Trojans who beat Bristol Eastern 70-58 and Newington 62-61 to improve to 12-1.  Simsbury plays Hall in West Hartford tonight.


In other hoops action . . .



The Indians split games last week.  Farmington lost to Bulkeley 57-52 in Hartford and defeated Northwest Catholic 67-45 at home to go to 9-4.  The Indians go on the road to Newington tonight.



For the second time this season, the Tomahawks lost to Windsor, this time by a score of 67-59.  9-4 Glastonbury goes to Manchester Wednesday.



After starting the season 8-2, the Knights slipped last week, losing to Stafford and Rockville at home.  Ellington recovered by beating a tough Windsor Locks team on the road 62-59.  The 9-4 Knights start the first of three games this week tonight at home against East Granby.


South Windsor

The Bobcats picked up their fourth win of the year last week.  South Windsor lost to Windsor at home and beat Manchester on the road to improve to 4-9.  The Bobcats host Wethersfield Friday night.



The Eagles forgot to play last week and are still 2-8.  Tolland hosts Bloomfield Wednesday.


Windsor Locks

The Raiders fell to 9-4 last week with losses to Avon and Ellington.  Locks will have another challenge tonight when they visit Granby.



At 6-6, the Wildcats are hanging around and keeping their postseason hopes alive.  Suffield lost to Bolton 43-41 at home and knocked off Stafford 51-50 on the road last week.  Suffield hosts Canton tonight.



The Spartans have dropped four straight to fall to 6-8.  Somers, who plays SMSA at home tonight, lost to Granby on the road and Bolton at home last week.



Enfield’s slide continued last week with losses to Canton and Avon.  The 2-11 Raiders travel to Bolton tonight.



Still winless, The Fermi Falcons will host Rocky Hill Thursday searching for a win.  Fermi lost to Hartford public last week by a wide margin.
