GHS field hockey squeeks by Indians

GLASTONBURY — The Tomahawks got an early goal from Leyna DiMarco, with an assist from Yasmeen Saeed and it was enough to win a defensive battle against Newington at home Saturday afternoon.

Glastonbury fired off 23 shots, but Newington’s Kayle Guest sent 12 of them the other way in an impressive performance.

Earlier this week, the Tomahawks fell 4-0 to Longmeadow Mass, but pulled off a 1-o win over Hall to start the week, the goal off the stick of Casey Smith and set up by Catherine Guanci.

With the win over Newington Saturday, the Tomahawks improve to 11-2-2, good for third in a tightly packed CCC. They will face Simsbury, the second place CCC team, in the regular season finale Monday at 6 p.m.
