Boys soccer breakdown: Week 6

There is a local flavor to the most recent soccer polls, with several area teams jockeying for seeding in their respective state tournaments as the regular season reaches its comclusion.

After eventful weeks, Glastonbury and Farmington are ranked 3 and 4 in the state respectively in the Class LL/L poll, behind Greenwich and Joel Barlow.

The Tomahawks got their first and only loss of the season to Farmington just a few weeks ago, but remain ranked higher despite a 2-2 tie to Manchester Monday.

The Indians also sport just one defeat, but have two ties from games earlier this season. 11-2 Avon also received votes in the coaches poll and is in second place in the NCCC behind Suffield.

The perfect 13-0 Wildcats are in solid first place in the M/S poll, with local squad Tolland at 9-4-1 in 10th place. Ellington and Somers each received votes in the poll last week as well.

The final day of the regular season is in just one week, and several teams, like Canton, Windsor Locks and Simsbury need to battle to earn post-season berths.
