Student Athlete of the Month: Farmington’s Galske

Brittany is a champion both in the classroom and outside of it. She was a member of last year’s Class L basketball champs and was also on the 2011 semifinalist soccer squad. She is an All-CCC player, and a member of the National Honor Society, the All-CCC Academic team, and in the Spanish Honor Society.
How Brittany prepares before a game: I prepare both mentally and physically. When I prepare mentally I become confident and have a self-belief to go and beat the opposing team. If I know the other team has a great player, I make sure I have to shut them down fast and give them no time on the ball. I prepare physically by getting a good stretch in during my warm-up. I am very superstitious so before every game I have to find a partner and do the Pele series.
How Brittany has improved this off-season: I have played on the ECNL SoccerPlus Elite team since freshman year. The ECNL program is consisted of playing regionally and nationally. It has helped me experience the highest level of competition because I have been able to play against the top ranked players across the nation.
Brittany’s most memorable moment as an Indian: The most memorable moment in my high school uniform is playing against Avon in the Class L state finals in 2011.
Why Brittany is excited for the 2013 season: I am excited about the possibilities the tournament will bring us this year.
Brittany’s favorite pro athlete:Abby Wambach
Brittany’s plans after she graduates: Currently interested in playing for the Blackbirds at Long Island University and getting my Bachelors in Sports and Exercise Science/Nutrition.
