Student Athlete of the Month: Somers’ Scanlon

Brandon is ranked 18th in his class, has accumulated college credits from three college courses in high school, has been awarded the NCCSA Scholar Athlete award three times and is on the Beta Club. He’s also pretty good at soccer and served as the JV captain his sophomore year.
How Brandon prepares before a game: Listen to my favorite music, understand my role for the upcoming game to be effective on the field, research the upcoming opponent to become aware of what threats they possess and how to counter them.
How Brandon has improved this off-season: Getting together with teammates over the summer and conditioning in order to prepare for the upcoming season, working alone to improve my weaknesses and strengths to be a valuable player to the team, coordinating informal captains practices.
Brandon’s most memorable moment as a Spartan: Hat trick against Windsor Locks to win the game 3-2 (Senior Year).
Why Brandon is excited about 2013-13: Working with underclassmen and helping them develop and realize their potential, passing on what I have learned from my coach and former and current teammates.
Brandon’s favorite pro athlete: Robson de Souza (Robinho), from AC Milan.
Brandon’s plans after he graduates:  Major in Biology (First four years), move on to Masters in Veterinary Medicine (Next two years), looking to apply to UCONN, SCSU, Tufts, UPenn.
