Glastonbury girls take third in Manchester

On Saturday September 28th, the Glastonbury Girls Cross Country team took 14 girls to New Hampshire to compete in the Manchester Invitational. It was 73 degrees and sunny, a perfect fall day for running. Glastonbury ran seven girls in the JV race and seven girls in the elite race. Both teams had a successful day as they raced against teams from all over New England.

Seven girls ran in the fastest race of the day, the elite race. The Glastonbury girls showed their strength by placing 3rd with 100 points. Leading the girls to their 3rd place finish was Sophomore, Allison McArdle. McArdle, continuing to add to her incredible performances this year finished 8th overall in the race with a blazing time of 19:32. Next for the team was Kaitlyn Hebert who also finished with a great time of 20:04. Kristen Arborio showed her strength by finishing with a time of 20:10. Gaelyn Kattman, the only varsity freshman, cruised through the line with a speedy time of 20:24. Not far behind her was Kaylee Stebbins who crushed the hills with a time of 20:30. Kat Hastings contributing to Glastonbury’s great performance glided through the line with a time of 21:00. To round the Glastonbury runners in the elite race was Cami Santor who didn’t let the hills beat her and finished with a time 22:00.

The JV girls also ran super fast times on the incredibly hilly course. To lead the girls to a phenomenal 4th place finish was Sarah Wilcox running a great time of 21:55. Sarah Hart pushed through her hip pain to finish next and only 4 seconds behind with a time of 21:59. Summer Xu and Alexis Segal, separated by only one second, finished 3rd and 4th for Glastonbury with times of 22:09 and 22:10 respectively. Josie Hunt was next with an awesome time of 23:00. Less than a minute behind was Nicole Gerardin who is recovering an injury and she finished with a speedy time of 23:51. To finish off Glastonbury’s great JV performance was Gina Pelligrinelli with a time 25:13.
