Glastonbury girls XC takes Stratton Brook Invitational

On Saturday, September 21 the Glastonbury Cross Country team ran at the Stratton Brook Invitational in Simsbury.

The sky opened up and it started to rain just in time for the Girls Class L race. Even though the weather was tough, the Tomahawks still finished strong winning first place.

The first Glastonbury runner to cross the line was Allison McArdle finishing in 19:49. Not far behind was junior Kaitlyn Hebert who ran an incredible race finishing in 20:05. Next up was senior Kristen Arborio finishing with an awesome time of 20:28. Sophomore Kaylee Stebbins, Freshman Gaelyn Kattman and Sophomore Kat Hastings came next, they all finished strong and ran fantastic races with times of 20:40, 20:47 and 20:55. Finishing off this stellar performance was junior Alexis Segal who came across the finish line with a great time of 22:42.

The girls JV team won second place with lots of outstanding performances. Sophomore Sara Wilcox crossed the finish line first for the entire JV race with an incredible time of 22:27. Next came junior Sarah Hart coming in third overall and second for the team with a time of 22:40. Not far behind was sophomore Summer Xu who finished third for the team (22:56). Next came senior Josie Hunt with another awesome time of 23:15. Glastonbury’s next three girls were very close and all ran outstanding races. Nicole Gerardin, Gina Pelligrinelli and Diana Garnett crossed the line in 24:13, 24:27 and 24:39, respectively.
