Suffield boys soccer off to fast start

SUFFIELD–The Wildcats are 4-0 and have worked hard for it. With wins over tough teams like Ellington, Granby, and Avon, the team is making noise in a talented NCCC.

“We have moved a lot of spots around since last year and added some new faces,” Suffield head coach Mark Beigel said. “The team really stepped up. Nothing has been easy so far with any of the league’s top teams. We are extremely talented and physically tough up the middle.”

Striker Sean Sullivan and CM Colton Grob netted the team’s two goals against Avon.

Matt Guminiak, Suffield’s other CM netted the game winner against Granby.

Holding CM/Center back Colin McFarlane netted two goals of his own against Ellington.

“All the while, Julian Price, Jack Lydon, and Tom Bartley have not allowed much penetration into our defensive third,” the coach said. “On the few threatening occasions, Cpt net minder Ben Woodhouse has been up to the task. He has not allowed a single goal yet.”

Suffield has a big game against cross town rival Windsor Locks, another undefeated squad. A tough match against Somers and Bolton are also on the team’s radar.
