Student Athlete of the Month: Ellington’s Schipper

Nick is a member of the National Honor Society, and this past year attended the Connecticut Junior Science and Humanities Symposium and the American Legion Boys State Conference. He has also recieved the Good Knight award on the soccer team, and helped his club team win the state championship in 2008.

How Nick prepares: Before a game, I don’t really listen to music or do anything special. Usually, I just focus and try to picture how the game will play out in my head.

How Nick has improved this off-season: There is always room for improvement in every part of my game, so I tried to work on everything. In general, I think that I improved most with my conditioning compared to years past.

Nick’s most memorable moment as a Knight: It’s hard to choose between beating two-time defending Class M state champs Suffield last year 1-0 in soccer or beating Somers 3-2 in a very emotional soccer game under the lights. Both of those wins were equally memorable.

Why Nick is excited for the 2013 season: Last year we had ten seniors graduate from our team, and many of them were starting players. This year we only have six seniors on the team, so we are pretty young. I can’t wait to just get the season started to prove ourselves.

Nick’s favorite athlete: Hands down Adrian Peterson from the Vikings. I am a huge Vikings fan.

Nick’s college plans: I’m not completely sure where I want to go yet, but I hope to be able to attend a graduate school eventually and become a veterinarian.
