Girls Soccer Blog–Week 1

After just over a week of soccer action to start the 2013 season, local squads are rounding into shape.

First and foremost is Glastonbury, a team many anticipated is among the best in the state and perhaps the nation.

A scoreless tie against Tolland showed some rust, but the team rounded into shape with a 7-0 win over Windsor. The girls have three games this week, including a home game against Weaver Friday at 4:15 p.m.

Suffield is another LL powerhouse, and opened the year in powerhouse fashion with a 5-0 win over soccer power Avon.

The Wildcats host granby Tuesday before back-to-back road dates with Ellington and East Granby.

South Windsor is another LL school with a strong start, 2-1 through Monday.

In Class L competition, Fermi and Farmington had solid starts, with the Falcons outscoring opponents 7-2 in wins over Windsor and Bloomfield, and Farmington boasting wins over Bristol Eastern and Newington.
