Tomahawks girls swim team strong for 2013

The Glastonbury girls swim team lost 10 swimmers to graduation, but returns plenty of talent to a squad that finished 7-3 last season.

Abbey Fusco is back for her senior year, an excellent all-around swimmer who excels in freestyle and backstroke.

Seniors Kate Hegwood (free, back), Kerstan Mahland (free) and Chelsea Marquis (diving) also look to add leadership and talent.

“We have a strong returning group of athletes,” head coach Suzie Hoyt said, “And an excellent group of freshmen coming in to fill the gaps left by the outgoing seniors.”

Hoyt cites the team’s versatility as its biggest strength, and boasts underclassmen Piper Swinton (free) and Emma Jaisle (diving) as two other key athletes on the team this year.

Wethersfield and Hall will again be the biggest opponents for Glastonbury in the CCC.
