Student Athlete of the Month: Glastonbury’s KcKinney-Cruden

Kyran has been chosen twice as an All-Conference football player, and heading into his senior season he is a team captain. He also has been an All-Academic choice two years in a row due in part to his 4.5 GPA, and membership in the National Honor Society, the Foreign Language Honor Society and Science Honor Society.

How Kyran prepares: I go through every part of the game in my head over and over the night before and the day of the game. Then, to get pumped up I listen to music in the locker room.

How Kyran has improved this off-season: This year I worked a lot on my speed. I went from having average speed to being one of the fastest guys on the team. Hopefully that will help me make some big plays this year.

McKinney_Crudden-Kyran-200x250Kyran’s most memorable moment as a Tomahawk: The best moment was beating Southington in the playoffs last year after they beat us in the regular season. It was a revenge game for us and definitely one of the best games we played all year.

Why Kyran is excited for the 2013 season: I’m looking forward to playing against three of the top teams in the state: Southington, NFA, and Windsor. I’m always extra excited and pumped up for the biggest games of the year, and this year we get a couple. They’re all good teams with good players, so it will be a challenge.

Kyran’s favorite athlete: Favorite college player: Jadeveon Clowney, favorite pro player: Cam Newton.

Kyran’s college plans: I will play football in college. I will probably decide later in the season or after the season where I am going to go, but playing football in college has always been a goal.
