Ellington girls soccer training camp next week
- Updated: August 16, 2013
The first annual Ellington High School Girls’ Soccer Training Camp will take place August 19-23 at Ellington High School.
The camp is designed to increase the players fitness and skill levels, teach technical/tactical aspects of the game and prepare the players for the high school season as means to prevent early season injuries.
“The boys high school team has had a training camp for five years, but there was never a camp for the girls,” One of the organizers, Peter Sherba said. “During course of the summer every year I would see girls training at the high school or Brookside Park on their own. I thought it would be great if someone could get them together and train together. This was my motivation for starting the girls training camp. Being a high school prep school Referee, I see a lot of early season injuries because the players are not properly prepared for the start of the season.”
