Tolland Junior League All-Stars eliminated in Eastern Regional second round

FREEHOLD — The road finally ended for the Tolland Junior League baseball squad in the Eastern Regionals in New Jersey, as the offense fell flat in a 9-1 loss to Maine’s Hampden-Newburgh squad.

Tolland fell behind early, giving up three runs in the first and four in the second and the team never recovered. They did piece together a two-run rally in the last of the seventh, but Tolland’s bats could only muster two hits in the defeat.

Claytin Keane and Parker Ryan had the two hits for Tolland, with Keane driving in a run in the seventh frame. Four pitchers combined in the loss.

The team will return north after a fantastic and pride-filled season awarded them district and state titles from Connecticut.
