Local golfers impress at Cas Coscina Memorial Jr PGA

NEW BRITAIN — Glastonbury golfers finished in second and third at Stanley Golf Course Wednesday, finishing the 36 hole Cas Coscina Memorial Jr PGA Invitational in impressive fashion.

Nathaniel Dong shot a 74 Wednesday, giving him a two day total of two-over par 146, three shots behind Blake Kelley from Manchester.

Tomahawks teammate Evan Grenus shot a two-under 70 in his final round, with an incredible stretch on the back nine containing four consecutive birdies. He shot a 33 on hie final nine and 148 for the two-day competition.

A little further down the leaderboard is Suffield’s Austin Rupp, whose 84 Wednesday dropped him to 18th place after a 74 to open the match Tuesday.

Another Glastonbury golfer, Albert Hansrisuk shot a 160, good for 27th.

Suffield’s Matthew Stafford, Tolland’s Sean Benjamin and Hlastonbury’s Denis Biglin also had solid days in New Britain, with finishes in the top 45.

Glastonbury was also solid in the girls competition, with Lexie LeClair shooting an 86 and 87 for a two day total of 173, good for sixth place.

Her teammates Elizabeth Andrian and Lauren Crouse finished in 10th and 11th place respectively, and Suffield’s Emma Heim shot a 177, got for eighth.
